One more week end in New Jersey, New York

One more week end(19,20/May/2007), This week end I went to New Jersey, New York with my roommate Sandeep to meet my friend Udaya.M and his wife Parimala. I am planning for this from last 2 weeks finally its happened. I need to appreciate one good thing is, Parimala used lot of her skill set and energy to cook South Indian food …??!! We took good food and roamed full day in New York with my friends.

Journey , We started from Virginia and reached Washington DC through Bus and Train, From Washgton DC to New York we traveled in BUS, from there we reached New Jersey, Parsippany through one more bus. Good travel !!!

We spend one full day in New York and visited to following places, my Intention is roaming in New York not to see lot of place. Just Big Building … Building …. Building …. Other then that as usual like indian crowed city.

We went to Status of Liberty and Ellis Island through Cruise.
Statue of Liberty: Located on a 12 acre island, the Statue of Liberty Enlightening the World was a gift of friendship from the people of France to the people of the United States and is a universal symbol of freedom and democracy. The Statue of Liberty was dedicated on October 28, 1886, designated as a National Monument in 1924 and restored for her centennial on July 4, 1986.

Ellis Island: Ellis Island is part of the Statue of Liberty National Monument. It was added to the National Park System in May of 1965 and through extensive restoration, its main building opened over a quarter century later on September 10, 1990 as a national museum of immigration. Ellis Island is federal property partly within the territorial jurisdiction of the both the States of New York and New Jersey. Ellis Island was the gateway for more than half of the immigrants entering the U.S. between 1892 and 1924. Closed to public tours in 1984, it was reopened in 1990, following a $160 million restoration.

MADAME Tussauds: Its in Times Square, you can see the Hollywood actors, sportsman, great leaders vax statue.

Empire State Building: his National Historic Landmark soars more than a quarter of a mile into the atmosphere above the heart of Manhattan. Located on the 102th floor, 1,050 feet (320 meters) above the city’s bustling streets, the Observatory offers panoramic views from within a glass enclosed pavilion and from the surrounding open-air promenade

Time Square: At the end of the 19th century, New York City had expanded up to 42nd street and the area was becoming the center of the city’s social scene. In 1904, the New York Times built the Times Tower on 43rd street just off Broadway to replace the premises in Downtown. The square facing the building was Times Squarecalled the Longacre square, but was soon renamed Times Square. The name is now used for the area between 40th and 53rd street and 6th and 9th avenue.
