About Velliangiri Mountain:<\/strong><\/p>\n“Vellingiri comprises seven hills and is a part of the western range of mountains. The Lord of Vellingiri resides in the seventh hill in the form of a \u2018swayambhu\u2019. It is situated at an altitude of 6000 feet and one has to trek a distance of 6 k.m. to reach the summit.\u00a0Women do not allowed to climb this hill.<\/p>\n
The devotees of Shiva consider it as one of the most important centres of pilgrimage. This hill is celebrated as \u2018South Kailash\u2019 for two reasons. First Lord Shiva Himself found this place congenial for his penance once. Second-the weather on this hill is similar to that of Kailash.<\/p>\n
Devotees of Shiva believe that there is a Kailash in the north\u00a0(Uttara Kailash), one in the centre,(Madhya Kailash)\u00a0and the third in the south\u00a0(Dakshina Kailash)\u00a0Among them, Uttara Kailash is present only in the subtle form. Madhya Kailash is in Tibet. Vellingiri hill is the Dakshina Kailash. So it is referred to as\u00a0\u2018Then Kayilayam\u2019\u00a0or South Kailash.<\/p>\n
Vellingiri symbolically represents the seven chakkras (energy centres) in the human body.<\/p>\n

Second Hill \u2013 Swadhishtanam – Pambatti sunai<\/p>\n
Third Hill – Mani poorakam – Symbol of Agni, kai thatti sunai<\/p>\n
Fourth Hill \u2013 Anahatham – Sidhar Ottar\u2019s samathi<\/p>\n
Fifth Hill \u2013 Vishudhi – Bheeman kaliyurundai hill<\/p>\n
Sixth Hill – Aagna\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 – Sethizhai cave, Aandi sunai<\/p>\n
Seventh Hill \u2013 Sahasraaram – Swayambhu lingam, the lord of Vellingiri<\/p>\n
